Audrey Hepburn’s French pleat in ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s’ has been named the most influential style ever in a Hairdressing Council poll. Audrey Hepburn’s ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s’ hairstyle has been named most influential style ever. The late actresses’ French pleat in the 1961 film – in which she played lead character Holly Golightly – has been given the honour after hairdressers voted it top of their list in a Hairdressing Council poll, revealing it is the most requested style in salons. Other vintage cuts in the list included ‘Some Like It Hot’ actress Marilyn Monroe’s trademark blonde curls, which were second, and model Twiggy’s crop in third. Jennifer Aniston made the top 10 for her ‘Friends’ character Rachel Green’s hairstyle aptly named ‘The Rachel’, while Victoria Beckham’s bob cut was also among the frontrunners. Audrey’s accolade comes after she was voted the most beautiful woman of all time in a poll held by TV channel QVC last year. Once again she saw off competition from Marilyn, who was third, and Jennifer, who came 10th in the survey. Modern stars such as Cheryl Cole, who was second, Angelina Jolie and Scarlett Johansson were also outdone by the ‘My Fair Lady’ star. Julien’s Auctions, the entertainment and celebrity memorabilia auction house, will host its summer auction May 7-8 at its Beverly Hills gallery featuring a clutch of fashion accessories and ephemera from some of the silver screen’s most legendary ladies. The glamorous haul includes costumes, personal correspondence, photographs and a Chrysler Town & Country station wagon owned by Lucille Ball; Marlene Dietrich’s personal and family photographs, correspondence to her husband (along with cables from her many lovers — all culled from her husband, Rudolf Sieber’s, estate); and a fox boa and Louis Vuitton steamer trunk belonging to Gloria Swanson.
Starting Monday Julien’s will have the auction items up for display at its gallery (9665 Wilshire Blvd., Suite 150, Beverly Hills) through May 7, viewable Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Registration is required to bid in the live auction and can be done either in person at the exhibitions and auction, or by visiting the Julien’s Auctions website or calling (310) 836-1818 before the sale. article source: latimesblogs.latimes.com - Audrey Hepburn an other stars items up for auction

Letters and contracts from Elizabeth Taylor, Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn are among the biggest celebrity items currently held by a Hollywood auction house. The collection features rare manuscripts, personal letters, contracts and photographs signed by the most distinguished celebrities in Hollywood and will go up for auction in mid-April. According to Catherine Williamson, director of fine books and manuscripts for Bonhams and Butterflieds, the collection features more than 600 documents that offer a rare glimpse into the personal lives of many admired celebrities. “It gives such a comprehensive picture of individuals from the movie industry. It gives such a comprehensive picture of what every major person who worked in this business is like because, that’s what letters do,” said Williamson. “They give you insight into the mind, the thoughts and the mind of the actor, the writer, the director. Not just what you see on the screen or in the interview, but what they’re thinking of and what they’re writing down.” The auction collection also features a variety of film contracts signed by celebrities and correspondence between the stars and their directors. The auction house in Los Angeles will be open to the public for preview beginning on April 15, with the sale taking place on April 20. Although the auction is taking place in California, collectors may also place bids from the New York gallery. article source: digtriad.com - The Fairest Lady Biography Clips
